XC Maps Notes
Several relationships and assumptions should be noted about the XC Skies Maps product and its relationship to the initializing forecast models, as well as other parameter relationships.

The World is Flat
All of our parameters assume we are dealing with flat terrain to derive our values. This is because the model output also assumes flat terrain for important values such as surface heating and flux parameters. Therefore, sun angle becomes a very important component in understanding what parts of terrain will produce the forecasted thermal values. We have provided a simple mouseover feature in the XC Maps product that allows you to investigate the sun angle on the surface of the Earth for any given day/hour combination. This will give clues as to what facing slopes can be expected to yeild the predicted thermal parameters. | Disclaimer | Privacy | Terms of use | Contact Us
